Staying at Little Earth Lodge
What time can I check-in?
Our check-in time is between 2pm and 8.30pm. Our reception closes at 8:30pm and check in is not possible after this time.
What time is check-out?
Check-out time is 10am.
Are the rooms fully made up?
Yes, all our rooms are fully made up including pillows, duvets and sheets.
Do you have Wi-Fi internet?
Yes, we have Wi-Fi (broadband) internet that works perfectly in all rooms. All guests receive 500Mb per night of free WiFi.
What time does the office close?
Our office closes at 8:30pm.
Can you leave a key out for me/us?
No, sorry we don’t leave keys out.
Do you offer a pick up service from Whangarei?
We are no longer able to offer a pick up service.
Do you have a kitchen where we can make food?
Yes, we have kitchen equipped with all you need to prepare food, and a BBQ area as well.
Do you have private parking?
Yes, we have lots of private off-street parking.
Can I camp at Little Earth Lodge?
Sorry no camping or campervans.
Are any of your rooms ensuite?
All our rooms have shared bathroom facilities. We have 3 bathrooms.
Can I walk from town to Little Earth Lodge?
Yes if you are a keen walker and like hills!
Can I pay with cash or credit card?
We prefer cash, however you can pay with Visa or Mastercard (not EFTPOS). Please note that we make a nominal charge for credit card service.
Do you have caving gear we can hire?
Yes, if you are staying with us we have headlamps, helmets, shoes and maps you can hire for a minimal fee.
How far are the Abbey Caves from Little Earth Lodge?
An easy 10 minute walk.
What time do the Abbey Caves close?
The caves are always open but it’s not recommended to enter the caves after dark.
When is the best time to see glow worms in the Abbey Caves?
Do you offer guided tours to the Abbey Caves?
Not at this stage but we do offer info and all the gear you need for a safe, fun tour of your own.
How long does it take to visit the Abbey Caves?
Approx. 1-2 hours
Do I need a torch to enter the Abbey Caves?
Yes and if you are staying at Little Earth Lodge you can hire a torch from us.
Poor Knights Diving
Can you book our diving at the Poor Knights?
Yes, we can – just let us know when you would like to dive or snorkel and we will take care of everything. For each dive we book you will save $$$ on you room.
How far is Little Earth Lodge from Tutukaka (Poor Knights)?
A 30 minute drive.
Can I snorkel at the Poor Knights?
Yes, you can take a day trip on the the Perfect Day cruise boat out to the Poor Knights and snorkel and kayak. If you book the trip with us we will give you a discount on your room.
Whangarei Falls is the most photographed waterfall in New Zealand and it’s easy to get there from Little Earth Lodge, whether you are walking or going by car. Take a 45 minute walk through the atmospheric A H Reed Kauri Park to the base of the Falls where there is a picnic table, just perfect for lunch. There is a car park at the head of the Falls and a path down to the bottom.
